As a workforce development partner, STCC works closely
with the Economic Development Council of Western
Mass., the City of Springfield, the Pioneer
Valley Planning Commission, and other economic
development agencies.
STCC has also been aggressively proactive in forming
alliances with regional and national corporations.
Located in the STCC Technology Park are:

The Verizon New England Next Step program,
for which STCC is the lead college. This $8 million
11-college program, a partnership between Verizon
and one of its unions, trains Verizon employees
throughout New England in telecommunications
technologies.

The National Center for Telecommunications
Technologies. STCC has been selected by the
National Science Foundation for an impressive 12
grants thus far, including a $5 million award which
established STCC as the National Center for
Telecommunications Technologies. Through this
effort, STCC with corporate, educational, and
government agency partners, is developing a
curriculum in telecommunications technology as a
national model, and helping to train tomorrow's
technology teachers.
Also located in the STCC Technology Park are the
Scibelli Enterprise Center, as well as the Technology
Applications Center of STCC's Mechanical Engineering
Technology department. The CNC machining center and
flexible manufacturing cell in the Technology
Applications Center are used to train employees and
potential employees for area industry.
